Continuous Soil Sampling
AKA Dual Tube Soil Sampler (DT32)
The DT32 system allows the user to perform dual tube type soil sampling
using 3.25” probe rods. This type of sampling is recommended with
the Geoprobe 6610DT rig. The following steps are demonstrated in the display:
A. The tool string is driven from ground surface to fill the first inserted
liner for continuous soil sampling from surface to 5’ below graded
surface (bgs).
B. The soil sample is retrieved with inner rod string to remove the inner
Sheath with the inserted sample liner containing the soil sample.
C. New liner and additional lengths of inner rod and outer casing are
added to tool string.
D. The tool string is once again driven to fill liner with soil.
E. The second soil sample representing the 5’ to 10’ bgs interval
is retrieved with inner rod string. This process is repeated until desired
sampling depth is reached. When the last sample has been retrieved, the
outer casing is removed and bottom-up grouting is performed.

Discrete Soil Sampling and Monitoring Well Installation with
the DT32 Soil Sampling System
The DT32 system allows the user to perform dual tube type soil sampling
(continuous or discrete) using 3.25” probe rods. This type of sampling
is recommended with the Geoprobe 6610DT rig. The following steps are demonstrated
in the display:
A. The DT32 System is driven to a predetermined depth with the DT32 Solid
Drive Tip and expendable cutting shoe.
B. The Solid Drive Tip is removed with the inner probe rod string.
C. The Sample Sheath and liner are lowered into place.
D. Continuous soil sampling is now possible from 5’ to 10’
bgs.
E. The final soil sample is retrieved with the inner probe rod string.
F. After the final soil sample is removed, the prepacked screen monitoring
well and PVC risers are installed. The 3.25” probe rods are retracted
and the well is completed and developed.
